3 weeks old
Jolene is now three weeks old. She is slowly starting to get a schedule. The last couple of days she has slept about 5 hours at a time allowing mommy to get some rest. She is lifting her head, reacting to sounds and lights and animals during her daily tummy time.
She is getting more vocal in the evenings when daddy is home. At times seems reluctant to sleep because she doesn't want to miss anything.
Overall though I have to say I am very lucky she is such a good girl.

Baby Jolene's Arrival Story- rated G
It all started midnight on Sunday/Monday with my water breaking 2 days post due date. We called Dr James. He said we could either head to the hospital now or wait until morning. We decided to wait until morning since the contractions I was having were still random and not difficult.
Monday 9:30 we arrived at Saddleback Memorial in Laguna Hills to check in and be examined. The contractions at that point were a little more frequent and uncomfortable but still random. They admitted us to be hooked up to the IV fluids and anabiotics. They started to monitor my contractions. The nurse did an exam a little while after we were admitted- 1 cm dialated.
About 6pm I started on Pitrocin to help move along to actual constuctive labor. At 11pm Dr James came in for an exam and I was still only 2 cm dialated. We sent all family home as nothing was going to happen that night. We increased the pitrocin and the fun began.
Between 11pm-1am the contractions increased in frequency and strength. Finally at 1am they were coming so close together I ended up hyperventilating and couldnt breath through them anymore and broke down requesting the epidural. From there life was much different.
All I can say is that the epidural made the contractions more managable since I couldn't feel them, but I had 1 leg totally dead and the other was 1/2 numb making it very hard to move around or side to side. I was no longer hyperventilating and throwing up though so in comparison much much better.
Dr James came in about 6am and did another exam. I had move up to 4cm but still not close enough. We decided we would do another exam at 11am (now Tuesday Sept 29th) and see where we were at. Dr James said if we were not at least 9cm by 11am we would have to go C-Section since at this point it was 30 hours since my water broke.
At 7am my amazing nurse, Pam, came on duty. She moved me around into different positions that she knew that could help move the baby down to help me dialate.
At 11am she did an exam. Miraculously we finally were at 9cm. Pam called Dr James. Dr James then made his way back to the hospital for delivery. We started pushing about 11:45. With Jason on the left holding my "dead" leg and Pam and myself holding the right. I think I pushed about 8 times over the next 45 minutes. I was actually quite surprised at how long the rest periods were between the pushing sessions.
At 12:39 Baby Jolene Jordan Hutcheon was born. 9lb 4 oz. 20 1/4 inches long.
